Course description:
Depth CPD ORE Preparation is a 16-week blended programme for overseas-qualified dentists delivered by Dental Pods Academy in partnership with Kingsbridge English Academy. The course prepares candidates for ORE Part 1 (two written papers) and Part 2 (DM manikin, OSCE, DTP, Medical Emergencies), while providing verifiable Enhanced CPD mapped to GDC Development Outcomes A–D. Teaching combines live online seminars, directed self-study and intensive practical training in our dental practice simulation lab (phantom heads/manikins), with multiple full mock exams and personalised feedback. Core strands include restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery/oral medicine, radiography/IR(ME)R, law & ethics, medical emergencies (with BLS/AED drills), decontamination/IPC and UK professionalism. Candidates receive a PDP, reflective log templates and CPD certificates.

Note on exams
For UK registration via the GDC route, overseas dentists typically sit ORE Part 1 (2 written papers) and ORE Part 2 (4 practical components). Many candidates also complete English language tests (IELTS/OET) if required. This blueprint covers ORE Part 1 & Part 2 and integrates recommended CPD topics (medical emergencies, decontamination, radiography) within the programme.


1) Programme Structure (16 weeks)

Phase 0 — Onboarding & Compliance (Week 0)

Phase 1 — ORE Part 1 Theory (Weeks 1–6)

Phase 2 — ORE Part 2 Simulation (Weeks 7–12)

Facilities: Your dental practice sim lab with phantom heads/manikins (“mannequins”).

Four components mirrored:

  • DM – Dental Manikin (Operative test)
    3‑hour sessions: Class II MO/DO amalgam/composite, full‑metal crown prep, endo access + obturation on typodont, temporary crown, impression taking & dies.
    Skills lab drills: isolation strategies, bur selection, line angles & margins, finishing/polishing standards, timed set‑ups & clean‑downs.
  • OSCE – Objective Structured Clinical Examination
    20‑station circuit rotating history‑taking, examination steps, consent conversations, data interpretation (photos, radiographs), prescription writing, cross‑infection breaches, safeguarding scenarios, prostho design, perio BPE/6‑point charting, ortho referral, MH updates.
  • DTP – Diagnosis & Treatment Planning
    Case‑based seminars + written plans for adult comprehensive care; special tests; risk‑based prevention; sequencing; consent options/costs; referral thresholds.
  • ME – Medical Emergencies
    Drills for anaphylaxis, syncope, asthma, hypoglycaemia, seizures, angina/AMI; single‑rescuer adult BLS with AED on manikin; emergency drug tray checks; team roles & SBAR handover.

Assessment: Two full Part‑2 mocks (Weeks 9 & 12) with examiner‐style marking rubrics + video feedback.

Phase 3 — Consolidation & Exam Readiness (Weeks 13–16)

  • Personalised gap‑plans from mock analytics
  • High‑yield stations bootcamp (restorative finishing, OSCE comms, DTP justifications)
  • Admin & logistics: booking windows, required documents, travel plan rehearsal
  • Final full‑dress mock (Week 15) + 1‑to‑1 tutorials (Week 16)

  • Formative: Weekly quizzes, stations checklists, peer‑OSCEs with structured feedback.
  • Summative Mocks:
    • Part 1 Mock: 2×180‑min (Paper A & B).
    • Part 2 Mocks: Full DM tasks, 20‑station OSCE, 2×DTP cases, ME circuit.
  • Progression gates: Minimum mock standards (e.g., ≥60% SBAs; pass all safety‑critical ME stations) before exam booking advice.

4) Manikin Lab: Setup & Kit List (practical)

Core: Phantom heads, lighting, high‑/slow‑speed handpieces, suction, rubber dam sets, matrix systems (Tofflemire/sectional), wedges, typodont teeth (MO/DO, endo, crown prep), burs kit (fissure, chamfer, round, finishing), composites/amalgam, etch/bonding, impression materials & trays, temporary crown materials, endo files & GP, radiograph mounts/sensor holders, PPE & infection‑control station, AED & emergency drug kit.

Station layouts: Pre‑bagged trays per task with checklists; time‑stamped set‑up/breakdown SOPs; calibration boards with reference preps.

Quality system: Calibration sessions for faculty; double‑marking for borderline cases; incident reporting for IPC; weekly equipment audit log.
