The NEBDN Certificate in Oral Health Education trains registered dental nurses to plan and deliver tailored oral health advice that helps patients protect their teeth for life. It’s an ideal next step if you want a bigger role in your practice, want to run prevention sessions, or are building towards a career in oral health promotion.

- Classroom sessions at our dental practice in Peterborough city centre
- Learn alongside other dental nurses in a small group
- Hands-on practice delivering oral health education, with direct tutor feedback
Both options lead to the same NEBDN qualification and include the NEBDN registration fee.

What you will learn

- Diet, sugar and their effect on oral health
- Oral hygiene techniques and aids
- Smoking, alcohol and oral health
- Communicating with different patient groups, including children, older people and patients with additional needs
- Behaviour change and motivating patients
- Planning, delivering and evaluating oral health education sessions
How you are assessed
- A Record of Experience showing the oral health education you deliver to patients in your own workplace
- A final examination set by NEBDN
Entry requirements
- Current GDC registration as a dental nurse
- Access to patients so you can complete your Record of Experience
